Welcome to Hamida House.

 

Welcome to Hamida House, a three-bed residential children’s home based in Stoke-on-Trent that supports young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.


At Hamida House, we are committed to providing a safe, structured and nurturing environment where young people feel respected, understood and supported. We recognise that many of the children we care for have experienced adversity, and our approach is rooted in trauma-informed practice, consistency and positive relationship building.


Our experienced and dedicated team works closely with each young person to develop personalised care plans that promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and independence. We focus on creating stability and clear boundaries, helping young people to build confidence, regulate emotions and achieve positive outcomes in education and daily life.


As Home Manager, I am proud to lead a team that is passionate about safeguarding, professional integrity and making a lasting difference in the lives of the young people we support.

We strive to ensure that every child at Hamida House feels safe, valued and empowered to move forward with confidence toward adulthood.

Safeguarding

At Hamida House, safeguarding is our highest priority. We fully commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child under our care.

We align our safeguarding practice with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, quality standards, and national statutory guidance, which includes Working Together to Safeguard Children.

All staff receive safeguarding training and are required to follow clear reporting procedures. Concerns are recorded, reviewed and escalated appropriately to ensure children are safe at all times.

We work in partnership with local authorities, safeguarding teams, police and other agencies to ensure a coordinated and protective approach.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

A trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) oversees safeguarding practice within the home. Any safeguarding concerns can be reported directly to management.

Our Safeguarding Approach

We ensure that: 


  • All staff receive safeguarding training
  • Clear reporting procedures are in place
  • Children know how to raise concerns
  • Risk assessments are regularly reviewed
  • Safeguarding incidents are reported appropriately
  • We work closely with Local Authorities and partner agencies


Our home follows a trauma-informed and child-centred approach, recognising that many young people have experienced adversity and require consistent, nurturing support.


Safeguarding concerns are reported immediately to senior management and, where required, to external safeguarding authorities.

Whistleblowing

 

Hamida House encourages an open and transparent culture where staff feel confident to raise concerns about:

  • Safeguarding practices

  • Unsafe working conditions
     
  • Poor practice
     

Any concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

Staff may report concerns to:

 

  • The Home Manager
     
  • The Responsible Individual
     
  • The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
     
  • Ofsted (where appropriate)
     

No employee will suffer detriment for raising genuine concerns.

Complaints Procedure

Complaints can be made:

All complaints are acknowledged promptly and investigated fairly.

Complaints & Advocacy

 

We believe every child has the right to be heard.


Children and young people are encouraged to raise concerns openly. They have access to independent advocacy services and are encouraged to make complaints without fear of consequences.


Complaints are taken seriously, recorded and reviewed in line with our Complaints Policy.

  • Minimum of two satisfactory references (including most recent employer)
  • Interview assessing safeguarding knowledge and values
  • Health declaration
  • Probationary period


We do not appoint any individual unless all safer recruitment checks have been satisfactorily completed.
