At HND Care, we believe excellent care begins with excellent training. We are committed to ensuring our team has the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to provide safe, compassionate and person-centred support.

Our training programme supports employees working across HND Domiciliary Care and HND Children’s Care. Training is tailored to each person’s role, responsibilities and the needs of the adults, children and young people they support.

Flexible Online Learning

HND Care uses the Flexebee online learning platform to give employees convenient access to a comprehensive range of health and social care courses.

Online training can be completed using a computer, tablet or mobile device, allowing employees to learn at a suitable time and work through courses at their own pace. Interactive content and course assessments help learners develop their knowledge and demonstrate their understanding.

Flexebee’s care-training provision is transitioning to Careskills Academy, which offers CPD-accredited courses and flexible learning options.

Our Training Programme

Depending on their role, HND Care employees may complete training in areas such as:

Safeguarding adults, Safeguarding children and young people, The Care Certificate, Health and safety, Infection prevention and control, Medication awareness, Moving and handling, First aid, Fire safety, Food safety, Mental health awareness, Dementia awareness, Autism awareness, Learning disabilities, Equality, diversity and inclusion, Communication and record keeping, Confidentiality and data protection, Positive behaviour support, Lone working, Duty of care, Person-centred care, Children’s emotional wellbeing, Managing challenging situations

Training requirements are determined by the employee’s role and may include online learning, practical instruction, supervision, competency assessments and refresher training.

Training for Domiciliary Care

Our domiciliary care training prepares employees to support adults safely and respectfully in their own homes.

Team members learn how to deliver care that protects dignity, encourages choice and promotes independence. Training covers essential areas such as personal care, medication support, safeguarding, infection control, moving and handling, communication and responding appropriately to changes in an individual’s health or wellbeing.

Training for Domiciliary Care

Employees working within HND Children’s Care receive training focused on safeguarding, stability, positive relationships and the individual needs of children and young people.

Training helps our team understand trauma-informed practice, emotional wellbeing, professional boundaries, positive behaviour support, education and preparation for independence. It also reinforces the importance of listening to young people and ensuring their wishes, feelings and experiences are respected.

Ongoing Learning and Support

Training at HND Care does not end after induction. Employees receive ongoing development through:

Regular supervision and appraisal
Refresher and update training
Practical competency assessments
Team meetings and reflective learning
Additional training based on individual needs
Support with continuing professional development

We monitor training completion and review learning needs regularly to help maintain consistently high standards across our services.
